The President often catches flak when the market is down and enjoys bolstered ratings when conditions are favorable, even though Congress plays a large role in economic, business and tax policies. American politics tend to swing in extremes, returning to the middle after periods of extreme right or left and it is during those changes of White House control that the market does the best, based on data for the past 116 years. But which Presidents have held power during the most profitable market conditions and who was running the country when investors suffered the largest losses?
